The Mission of a DEA Special Agent: Transnational Operations
Unlike local narcotics detectives who investigate street-level drug sales, Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) target the highest echelons of international cartels, synthetic fentanyl manufacturing networks, and multi-billion-dollar global money-laundering rings.
Operating across 23 domestic field divisions with over 220 domestic offices and 93 foreign offices in 69 countries, DEA Special Agents possess broad extraterritorial authority to dismantle clandestine laboratories, coordinate foreign military task forces, wiretap encrypted communications networks, and seize cartel assets globally.
